Breadboard Power Supplies - Read before you Buy One

There are a lots of Breadboard Power Supply modules available on eBay, Aliexpress and many other countless DIY Electronics shops. Most of them do not provide the breadboard compatibility data with these modules. Different sizes of breadboards are available in the market and most of these commonly available Power Supply modules are not compatible for all the breadboards.

The most commonly available breadboard in Indian markets is GL-12 Universal Breadboard, other commonly available breadboards are MB102 and other small size breadboards.

Below are pictures of most commonly available breadboards in the market,

GL-12, Most commonly available in India, Size – 170 x 65 x 8.5 mm, Does not work with MB102 compatible Power supply module.

MB-102, Not so commonly available in Indian Markets, Size – 166 x 54, Works with MB102 compatible Modules

Other breadboard power supply including that by Adafruit, SeeedStudio, Does not work with the GL-12 Breadboard. Only true universal breadboard power supply is the one by Sparkfun.

Not compatible with GL-12, Compatible to MB-102

The One by Seeed Studio, Customer has reported it not working with even MB-102, it works with Small breadbord 8.3×5.3 Clear

Breadboard Supply by Sparkfun, Fits all kind of breadboard, Fits only on single side rails and Does not have USB Function

So, choose your breadboard power supply carefully otherwise you may end up wasting your hard earned money. Do comment your views on what makes a great universal breadboard power supply.
